«The Seeds of Victory», David Pflugi's fifth work in honour of a Football World Cup, was the first one to be created entirely on location in the host country. It was signed by the players of the German and Argentinian national football teams at Rio's São Januário stadium on July 12th 2014.
The sculpture, measuring 8m in length and 3 m in height, took on different forms when viewed from different perspectives, showing amongst others a small child, a football and Rio's famous Christ the Redeemer statue.
The creation of the work began on October 1st 2013 and took place in the regions of Esplanada, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In July 2020, tragedy struck: The sculpture was destroyed in a fire. Its remains have been integrated into the Victory Work «From the Ashes».
